Program Tango Nueva

From the revolutionary works of Astor Piazzolla to the contemporary tango creations of the 2020s. From bold reinterpretations of classic tangos to original compositions by modern orchestras, ensembles, producers, and composers.

Strictly Nuevo & Neo in all its forms and expressions. This is a musical journey through the ongoing evolution of tango — a space where tradition is not repeated, but transformed, questioned, expanded, and reinvented.

Expect everything from lyrical chamber-tango arrangements and powerful contemporary orchestras to electronic tango, neo tango, tango fusion, cinematic tango, and experimental works that still retain a clear connection to the spirit of tango.

Unlike many mixed-format neo events, Tango Nueva deliberately excludes both Golden Age (Época de Oro) tangos and non-tango music. Every tanda is rooted in the tango tradition, even when it pushes the boundaries of what tango can sound like.

The focus is on musical innovation, emotional depth, and the rich diversity of modern tango expression.

Whether it is the dramatic tension of Piazzolla, the electronic landscapes of Gotan Project and Bajofondo, the urban energy of Otros Aires, the contemporary orchestral sound of today’s tango ensembles, or the work of emerging composers, Tango Nueva celebrates tango as a living and evolving art form.

Tandas with cortinas, following the TTVTTM format.

A milonga for dancers who love discovery, musical sophistication, and the future of tango — without forgetting where it came from.
